Gog, Antichrist, Armageddon, and the Presence of God
Gog: Are You The One?
Mindful of the Times
In Ezekiel 38:17, God asks the question of Gog "Are you the one
... ?" Why does God ask this question and who is the one that God is
Considering God's repeated use of a forty year cycle for testing,
what dates may be important on the Jewish and Gregorian calendars in
relation to the fortieth anniversary of the Six-Day War (1967-2007) and
Israel's rejection of its administrative control over the Temple Mount that
immediately followed that war?
Is Gog the same leader as the Antichrist? Is the invasion of Israel by Gog and
Magog the same war as Armageddon?
This article will examine
some of the primary characteristics revealed by scripture regarding the end-time
leaders of Gog and the Antichrist, and the prophetic wars of Gog and Magog and
Armageddon to determine the accuracy of some author's claims that they are the
same leaders and the same wars.
A False Sense of Security
How does an understanding of the Hebrew word "betach" influence the
interpretation of the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 and 39? The King James Version
has translated "betach" three times in chapter 38 as "safely." Many scholars
believe that Israel will be dwelling safely meaning it will be under a
covenant of peace at the time of the invasion of Gog and Magog. However,
Israel is currently dwelling under a false sense of security. How does that
relate to the meaning of "betach"?
God has a way of testing men, individually and
collectively, of trying their faith at key moments in time. This is particularly
true of God's relationship with the nation of Israel where He occasionally
singles out a specific generation for testing, blessing, or punishment.
Walls of Protection
There is a theme woven throughout a number of Old Testament passages
where a wall, or a fence, or a hedge provides a measure of protection from one's
enemies. Does God provide a deeper message regarding this theme? What does a
people's spiritual condition have to do with physical barrier's of protection?
Soul Sleep vs. Soul Ascension
A person is said to be "sleeping" after death. Does the soul
sleep in the sense of being completely unconscious after a person's death?
Gog and the Antichrist Revisited
Some authors claim that there is only one war during the End Times
and that war is Armageddon. They view all unfulfilled prophecies of end-time
wars as applying to Armageddon and thus view Gog and Magog as the same as
Armageddon. Is there any truth to this claim?
